the lights seem brighter with every dull thud of your approaching footfalls, and your ears are just starting to catch the obvious ringing of voices from inside the tents: nonsensical chatter. a string of high-pitched singing. the thick catch of a sob in an unknown throat. but most pronounced to you is a sudden burst of laughter that seems to take root within you and shake the very ground beneath your feet .. it fills you up with an unexplainable giddiness and temporarily injects your nervous veins with a boost of confidence.

there's a worn trailer just inches away from your wandering form, and you can see a a dozen or so silhouettes moving beyond the curtained windowpane .. shifting like there's fire beneath their feet .. laughing .. always laughing.

an intrigued grin crosses your countenance as an arm reaches towards the steel door, seemingly of its own accord .. after all the directionless wandering you've been doing, being a part of that open display of happiness seems positively ideal .. why, it feels as if you haven't had reason to do so much as smile in years, and perhaps the crowd within the trailer wouldn't mind so much if you stepped inside and joined them ..

but then again, you've never been particularly good at deciphering reality from falsehoods .. never been good at recognizing something so powerfully masked as madness.
